Sole (and other Dyaco brands) Error Codes

Sole treadmills with the classic LED or LCD console (F63, F65, F80, F85, S77, TT8 and their predecessors) share one error table, printed in the owner's manual. The codes are short and, unusually for this industry, the manual says what each one means.

Before you use this table: Sole, Spirit, Xterra and Fuel are all Dyaco brands and their consoles are closely related, so the same code usually points the same way. Newer touchscreen Sole models can display different messages; when in doubt, the manual for your exact model wins.

Manufacturer-documented Meaning taken from a manufacturer manual or support page.   Reported Consistent owner and technician reports; the manufacturer has not published this code. Confirm with them if it matters.

CodeWhat it meansWhere to look first
E0Also shown as: E00Classic-console Sole treadmillsManufacturer-documented

The safety switch is open: the console cannot see the safety key, or the switch is making intermittent contact.

Likely causes

  • Safety key not seated on the console
  • Tether pulling the key sideways
  • Worn key magnet or console switch

Source checked 2026-09-13

  1. Remove the key, wipe the contact area and refit it squarely
  2. Make sure the tether cannot pull the key while you walk
  3. If E0 comes and goes during use, the console switch is the likely fault

E1Also shown as: E01, E-1Classic-console Sole treadmillsManufacturer-documented

No motor output signal: the controller commanded the motor but did not see the belt respond.

Likely causes

  • Belt runs briefly then stops: friction from a dry deck or over-tight belt, or the console needs calibration
  • Belt never moves: motor, controller or the cable between console and controller
  • Speed sensor not reporting

Source checked 2026-09-13

  1. If the belt moves and then stops with E1, run the calibration procedure from your manual and check deck lubrication
  2. If you press Start and nothing moves before E1 appears, the manual says to contact service
  3. Check the console-to-controller cable is fully seated at both ends (unplugged)

E2Also shown as: E02Classic-console Sole treadmillsManufacturer-documented

Over-current protection: the treadmill was overloaded and the controller shut the motor down to protect itself.

Likely causes

  • Walking belt misaligned or too tight
  • Dry deck raising motor load
  • Heavy load at high speed or incline

Source checked 2026-09-13

  1. Check belt alignment and tension against the manual before anything else
  2. Lubricate the deck if it is due
  3. If E2 returns with the belt correctly set, stop using the machine and have the motor and controller tested

Stop: Repeated E2 means the motor is drawing more than the controller allows; keep running it and you risk the controller.

E3Also shown as: E03Classic-console Sole treadmillsManufacturer-documented

Incline error: the controller lost the incline motor or its position signal.

Likely causes

  • Cable between the incline motor and the controller loose or damaged
  • Incline motor stalled at a limit
  • Calibration lost after a move or power cut

Source checked 2026-09-13

  1. With the treadmill unplugged, check the incline motor cable at the controller
  2. Run the incline calibration in your manual
  3. If the deck is stuck raised, do not force it down

E5Also shown as: E05Classic-console Sole treadmillsManufacturer-documented

Communication error: the console and the motor controller have lost contact.

Likely causes

  • Console cable unplugged or pinched, often after assembly or folding
  • Damaged cable in the upright
  • Controller or console board

Source checked 2026-09-13

  1. Power off, then reseat the cable behind the console and at the controller
  2. Look for a pinched cable where the upright meets the base
  3. If E5 persists with cables sound, the controller or console needs service

E6Also shown as: E06Classic-console Sole treadmillsManufacturer-documented

Control board failure: a component on the motor controller (the manual names the IGBT as an example) has failed.

Likely causes

  • Failed power component on the controller
  • Damage after a power surge or long-term overload

Source checked 2026-09-13

  1. Power off and unplug; the manual's remedy is a replacement controller
  2. Before fitting a new board, have the belt, deck and motor checked so the new one does not fail the same way

Stop: A controller with a failed power component can overheat. Do not keep resetting it.

E7Also shown as: E07Classic-console Sole treadmillsManufacturer-documented

Abnormal external voltage: the supply reaching the treadmill is outside the range the controller expects.

Likely causes

  • Extension cord or power strip dropping the voltage
  • Shared circuit sagging under load
  • Wiring or outlet fault

Source checked 2026-09-13

  1. Plug the treadmill directly into a wall outlet on its own circuit
  2. Try a different outlet; if E7 follows the machine, have the controller checked
  3. If the outlet or plug is warm, stop and call an electrician

LS1Also shown as: LS, LS01, LS-1Sole F63, F80, F85 and similar (owner reports)Reported

Low speed: the belt failed to reach or hold the commanded speed. Owners and Sole support describe it appearing at start-up after a click from the relay.

Likely causes

  • Dry deck or tight belt adding friction
  • Speed sensor out of alignment or its magnet missing
  • Worn motor brushes or a controller that cannot supply the load

Source checked 2026-09-13

  1. Power off for a minute and try again; if the belt starts with a gentle push, friction or the motor is the suspect
  2. Check deck lubrication and belt tension per the manual
  3. Have the speed sensor gap and the motor tested if it repeats

Incline ErrorAlso shown as: INCLINE ERROR, INCLINE ERRSole treadmills (owner and reviewer reports)Reported

The console could not complete an incline movement; reviewers and support describe clearing it by removing the safety key, refitting it and running a calibration cycle.

Likely causes

  • Calibration lost
  • Incline motor cable or limit
  • Motor stalled

Source checked 2026-09-13

  1. Run the calibration procedure in your manual
  2. If the message returns immediately, treat it as E3 above
