FixDecoded exists for one moment: the one where a machine or device that you rely on stops working and you want to know why before you spend money on it.
Most troubleshooting advice online is either a forum thread with six contradictory answers or a parts shop telling you to buy a new motor. We write the page we wished existed: what the fault actually means, which checks to do first, what each result tells you, and the point at which you should stop and call a technician.
What we do
We publish troubleshooting guides organised the way people actually search: by equipment, brand, model, symptom and error code. Every guide follows the same structure so you always know where to look:
- Quick answer — what the problem usually means and the first thing to try.
- Safety first — what to disconnect, what not to open, and which tests belong to a trained technician.
- Ordered checks — from the safest and cheapest to the most involved, each with the result you should expect.
- When to stop — the signs that mean professional repair, warranty service or replacement is the right call.
- Sources — the manufacturer documentation and service material the guide is based on.
How we work
Our guides are built from manufacturer owner’s manuals, official support articles, service documentation and technical bulletins, cross-checked against each other before a recommendation is made. We prefer the method that lets you rule causes out in order over the shortcut that tells you to replace the most expensive part first.
The full approach, including how we handle corrections and independence, is on our Editorial Policy page.
