This page lists the cookies FixDecoded uses, what each one does, and how to change your choices. Nothing beyond the strictly necessary cookie is set until you allow it.
Change your cookie settings
You can accept, refuse or change your choices at any time. Your decision is remembered in your browser for the period shown in the table below, after which we ask again. Closing the banner without choosing counts as refusing non-essential cookies.
What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file that a website stores in your browser. Some are needed for a site to work; others remember preferences, measure visits, or let advertisers recognise a browser across sites. Similar technologies (local storage, pixels) are covered by this policy in the same way.
The cookies we use
| Category | Cookie | Set by | Purpose | Lasts |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Necessary | fd_consent | FixDecoded | Remembers your cookie choices so we do not ask again. Kept in your browser's local storage (a cookie is used only if storage is unavailable). | 182 days |
| Necessary | wordpress_test_cookie, wp-settings-* | WordPress | Only set when someone signs in to edit the site. Not set for readers. | Session / 1 year |
| Analytics | _ga, _ga_* | Google Analytics | Counts visits and page views so we know which guides help. Only set if you allow analytics. | Up to 2 years |
| Advertising | — | Not in use at the moment. If advertising is enabled, this table will show the relevant storage and the site will use the appropriate consent flow. | — |
Cookie names and durations are set by the providers and can change; we review this table when they do. Google describes its cookies in detail at policies.google.com/technologies/cookies, and how it uses data from sites like ours at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
Advertising cookies in detail
The site does not currently display ads. Google AdSense may be used in future. Third-party vendors, including Google or other ads platform, may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this or other websites. If you allow advertising cookies, advertising platform may show personalised ads and measure them; if you do not, it shows non-personalised ads with limited measurement. You can also opt out of personalised advertising directly at Google Ads Settings or aboutads.info.
Browser controls
Every browser lets you block or delete cookies (usually under Settings → Privacy). Blocking all cookies does not affect reading the guides, but your cookie choice will be asked for again. If your browser sends the Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as “no advertising cookies” automatically.
